For sale in this Ebay listing is a completely factory original 1987 Paul Reed Smith Custom 24 from my personal collection.

Here's the scoop on this beauty !!

I purchased this gorgeously flamed Scarlet Red finished 1987 PRS Custom 24 many many moons ago from a well known & highly respected retailer on the east coast.This beautiful 25 year old vintage Paul Reed Smith Custom 24 has been well maintained and remains in excellent factory original condition and sports an awesome maple flame top that is further complemented with all of it's factory original PRS old school appointments that greatly influenced the successful beginning of Paul Reed Smith Guitars back in 1985.

Over the coarse of it's existence this wonderful guitar has been carefully & lovingly played as any such fine example of superior and genius craftsmanship rightly should have been.This fantastic guitars body & finish exhibit far less visible signs of customary wear from use & handling than most of the majority of any 25 year old guitar's you may find that have actually been played as they were intended to be.This early 3rd year PRS Custom 24 is not a dead mint under the bed Case Queen but,be that as it is ,it still remains in very nice & excellent overall factory original condition .The pics posted for your review display most of the notable finish or handling related blemishes on the guitar but these are truly limited to a considerably small number in total for a guitar of this age.None of which in any way affect this guitars amazing sound,tone,feel,or playability.And truthfully,nor do they detract from the guitars gorgeous vintage beauty & vibe .

In my close inspection of this guitar for this Ebay listing the beautiful flame maple top has a few (4-5) very small isolated impressions and a small amount of visible fine finish only scratches.The back of the guitars body is also exceptionally clean for a 25 year old guitar that's actually been played.Here the guitar exhibits some isolated minor impressions in the wood and a moderate number of very minor shallow worming impressions in the wood which have not broken or harmed the clear finish & are located above the top & front area of the tremolo cavity cover.These as well as most any other blemish on the back of the guitar can be difficult to see with anything less than an up close in hand inspection of the guitar & imho are of minimal consequence to the guitars overall beauty and appearance.The outer body rim and maple cap's outer top side edge exhibit a small number of primarily small clear coat only finish nicks and some very minor indents. None are of any significance .The ding located on the treble side neck collar area (see pic) is the one genuine cosmetic blemish of aesthetic value or consequence imho.The headstock tips are free of the commonly seen chips,dings,nicks,etc...and only exhibit the smallest bit of extremely minor finish only rub.Very clean ....

The factory original hardware & electronics work perfectly & feature the T & B stamped Standard Treble & Standard Bass pickups 9 (no posted pic,but they are there folks ),5-way rotary switch and these features combined with the famously renowned Sweet-Switch & 24 fret Brazilian Rosewood Neck achieve some of the most serious Rock & Roll and Blues rhythm sounds not to mention some of the most soulful & searing lead tones to have ever been played on an electric guitar and this guitar provides seemingly endless Sustain......... !!!! That's not seller smack folks... just plain & simple fact that all connoisseur's of sound & tone are knowledgeable of.Ted McCarty didn't build all of those great Gibson Les Paul's and other Gibson electric guitar's from the 1950's with Brazilian Rosewood necks for any other reason other than he thought it was the superior tone wood for guitar necks to be built with for ultimate sound & tone achievement... PRS just agreed and followed McCarty in using Brazilian Rosewood on most every PRS Guitar model built from the very beginning of PRS Guitars.

The 24 fret Brazilian Rosewood neck is perfectly straight with no cracks or repairs & features the extremely comfortable Standard neck carve profile.The posted pic of the neck shows a small clear coat finish only nick that in no way affects the play or feel of the guitar & it's presence is minimally noticed or even felt .The fret wires show some visible wear & indentations from the 1st-7th fret position.I played the guitar for an extended period of time today prior to the listing & noticed no discernible fret buzz or dead spots and there is no immediate need or reason for any fret work at the present time or in the near future folks & particularly if you are a casual player as myself .The guitar was professionally set up with D'Addario 9-42's and this beauty sounds and plays great !!!!!!!!

The guitars Scarlet Red finish on the maple top has moderately faded but remains beautiful & is very cool in appearance .The clear finish still has a very nice luster as you should be able to determine from the listings pics that were taken in the afternoon Texas sunlight.This particular PRS finish color often presents some real challenges to picture but without any reservation I am comfortable saying the posted pictures are as accurately representative as is possible of this guitars true appearance .I've also pictured and posted multiple pictures taken of the guitar from various angles to better assist you in determining the true quality and degree of the guitars gorgeous flame maple top.

The sale of this wonderful 25 year old PRS Custom 24 includes it's excellent condition factory original case & original tremolo bar.
