If you are looking for a 1980’s
collectible PRS in very good condition, here it is. I bought this in
1988 and have played it lightly for 22 years. Everything is 100%
original and nothing has ever been tampered with. This guitar deserves
to be in the hands of a pro, or a collector, not tucked away in my
closet!
Update:
Note to all potential buyers: This will be the one and only auction for this guitar since I already have a fair offer from a local music store that I will use if this auction fails to meet the reserve price.
Features:
Beautifully flamed maple “10 top” in whale blue
Brazilian rosewood fretboard
Honduran mahogany body
Abalone bird inlays
HFS Treble Pickup and Vintage Bass Humbuckers
Standard neck shape
Short neck heel
5 position rotary pickup switch
Sweet switch
Weighs 7.2 pounds
Included:
Original hard-shell case in very good condition, only a few minor scratches and scuffs, and no keys.
Original warranty card and all paperwork that came with the guitar.
Original wrench kit that came with the guitar.
1985 PRS brochure as shown in the photos.
1980’s
PRS’s have collectible value and this one should continue to increase
in value, especially as the economy improves. Now is a good time to
buy collectible guitars since the prices are down. Buy low, sell high,
just like stocks. The reserve price is low, so there is a good chance
if you buy this guitar you will have instant equity.
Even after
22 years, the sweet smell of the rosewood wafts out of the case every
time you open it. Since it is 22 years old however, it does have a few
minor blemishes and scratches, mostly invisible and all easily fixable.
There is a small chip next to the strap connector that is about ¼” at
its widest part and looks way worse in the photo due to the extreme
close-up. This is the only noticeable blemish on the guitar,
and it is hard to see since it is on the back of the guitar. The only
other chip is on the back of the headstock and it’s about 1/8th” at its
widest spot, also barely visible. There is also some belt buckle
rash on the back, so minor it hardly shows up in the photos. There are a
few small pinhead size dimples on the front that do not penetrate the
clear coat and are not noticeable unless you are about 5 inches away and
in bright light. The frets and fretboard have some minor wear as
shown in the photos, but should be fine for many years to come. I
recently took this guitar to a vintage guitar show and many people
commented about how clean and well kept the guitar is, and how nice it
looks even after 22 years. This guitar is in perfect working order and
plays and sounds as you would expect an 80’s PRS to play and sound,
which is to say “top notch”. There will be no casual returns unless I
have not described something accurately here, or for some other
extremely compelling reason. Please email me with any questions.
Note: Will ship only to contiguous states.
