This is a 1992 Paul Reed Smith Custom 24 with Ed King Rig Pickups
.....It's not an "Ed King" model, it's a pickup and switching option
that was available for about 3 years that got it's name because PRS did
it custom for Ed. It's a variation of the multi-tap pickup system
introduced in 1989 that added a PRS single coil between the two
humbuckers of the multi-tap. Instead of the Thick (inside coils
untapped) and Thin (inside coils tapped in parallel) settings of the
multi-tap (pos 8 and 7), you got Treble w/ single coil (8) and Bass with
single coil (7)
I have also confirmed with PRS that this is all
original and the year and model is a 1992 CU24 Ed King Rig...the serial
number 213302(it is hand written on the back of the head stock and under
the treble pickup)(it also says Ed King Rig in hand writing on the back
of the pickups!!!)
It has a beautiful maple top on a mahogany body
Mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard and really interesting mother of pearl birds inlays on the neck
Locking tuners.
PRS Tremolo Bridge
There are a few very minor dings and scratches(nothing through the clear coat and 90% are on the back!!!!
I would give this guitar an 8 or 9 out of 10 as far a condition goes.....as far as sound goes i personally give it a 10!!!!
It has the original case(has some skuffs and knicks but over all still in good condition)'
The ed king pickup combination is super, SUPER, rare...i have only seen pictures of them beside the one i have!!!!!!!!!!
these guitars have sold for over $4000 many years ago so don't miss out on this one......i have owned it for 16 years and its has been in its case for most of those years!!
