1996 Paul Reed Smith McCarty. Original owner, ordered through local Guitar Center with instructions to NOT open the box when it arrived or I would refuse it. They are used to that from me, my Marshall head and cab was ordered the same way. I opened the box at GC, no one else touched it. I’m incredibly fussy about who touches my stuff. I took it home, played for a few hours, cried with joy and put it up in the closet with the “others” for special occasions.
Violin Amber, non-10 top; a classic color that reveals the great wood grain on the maple cap. Mahogany neck and back. All case candy, unsigned warranty card, tools, catalog, original case, all included.
No modification of any kind, other than it does have strap-locks installed, as does every guitar I own. I wouldn’t play it one time without them. I need to be hooked in; I have never dropped a guitar. Original strap pins included in the case. Has not been to my local (best in Motown) luthier for setup; didn’t need it.
For me, it is the closest thing to a perfect solid body guitar with the only comparison being my PRS Custom 24, which is perfect and will be with me until someone pulls it from my cold dead grip.
Ten tops can be prettier but they don’t play or sound any better and cost more. PRS McCarty’s are sought by the player who wants three things in life: tone, lightweight playability and tone. The McCarty pickups are lower in heat than those on my 24 and rank somewhere close to the ’59 Les Paul reissue I sold, although I never put the meter on them to compare. Has the tone control coil splitter push-pull pot, original factory.
It has no more than 40 hours total playing time. No marks, scratches, bumps, nothing except may require a little polishing on the nickel parts (stop-tail bridge, pickup covers) from sitting. There is a scrap on the bottom of the case, from putting up into my closet; shown in photo. This guitar has never been out of my smoke-free, child-free, curious teenager-free home. No one has ever touched it except me.
I’ve been playing as a non-performing hobbyist since 1967 and this guitar is TALL Cotton. I play it through a hot-rodded ‘59 Bassman, my Tone Master head, my Marshall Vintage Modern and my Guytron and it loves them all. No further discussion concerning the tone needed here…
Serious Ebayers, (100+ positives and zero negatives) can review for 48 hours and return if necessary, if not satisfied with the condition of the instrument. Will ship insured for full sold value. Will not accept returns for buyer’s remorse. My feedback speaks for itself. I have bought and sold (too much) serious high end stuff and believe in underselling and over-delivering. Would like to see more of this. Please write with questions. Not interested in any trades, raising cash. Winning bidder gets my personal cell phone; I will make sure you are 100% SATISFIED.
Payment required within 7 days of auction end. Will ship to Verified Paypal addresses only.
WILL NOT ship to International addresses. Sorry. Don't ask.
I’m selling it to help pay for the motorcycle I bought…2nd childhood I suppose…Happy Bidding and Good Luck! Mike
