This amber model is rare in that its sunburst surface is so subtle as not immediately apparent and so does not obfuscate the depht of burl and flame of the maple, the careful bookmatch and thereby is uniquely and strikingly elegant. In opening the case, you will be shocked at its beauty and simplicity. It has no hint of bad taste that is so reassuring to those who also find the milieu of vulgarity so self affirming. It is not enough that it is a PRS, as there are now, unfortunately, many that are not worthy of the reputation. This is a uniquely beautiful one. It has been played only at factory for final tuning and for final electronics tests before shipping, and had been stored in its original case in a room with numerous 40 year old classical guitars and other high value instruments with humidification and fungal control. The serial number is 6109180 so you may verify the replacement value of it new, which is $4000. You will certainly earn a substantial resale investment here, given the guitar is 2006, so that you are already ahead by 5 years in vintage value of a 2011 model. I have much older PRS's some of which are 10 tops but only by accident of selection for tonal character for particular studio projects and if you are an artist, you will find that 10 Top is a designation only for the appearance and many examples that earn the 10 top at the factory would remind you of Rod Stewart's tiger skin pants, and they may be too uniformly brittle in tone of midranges without over equalization of the frequencies which ruins the original timbre of the wood.
It comes with new original case - and a new 3 inch wide belt (which Santana would not wear because it is plain black, but which Holdsworth would wear because there are already plenty of complexity and content in his music). It is the one being sold because I would not play wood less than 25 years old, I have never played it and therefore not attached to it and not dependent on it.
