2009 Paul Reed Smith STARLA STOPTAIL,
with Vintage Cherry Finish and OHSC

MINT CONDITION and UNPLAYED, including
all the case candy, truss wrench, and the original factory box. (The
only thing missing is the warranty card, which I did send in.)

The PRS STARLA is a lightweight,
highly-resonant solidbody electric guitar with a vintage-inspired
design. This one has the vintage cherry finish over the mahogany
body, and a Gibson-style stoptail bridge and tailpiece, giving it
much better tuning stability than the more common models that have a
Bigsby. The original street price on this guitar was $1899. Note
that this is the top-of-the-line original Starla model, not one of
the cheaper X or S models that they now sell.

The production date on this STARLA is
4/30/09. I purchased this new about a year ago. A few weeks later,
the band I was in broke up, and I didn't have a chance to use it at a
single practice or gig. I took it to my luthier who set it up to my
liking, and I played it a couple of times at home. The rest of the
time it has been in the case. I am selling it because I am done with
the bar scene and sick of bands that are too scared to do anything
original, and have gone back to playing all acoustic. Therefore,
this guitar has not been played, and it is too nice an instrument to
be sitting around collecting dust. It is in perfect, MINT condition.
There are no scratches, dings, or blemishes of any kind. Anything
that looks off in the photos is just a smudge, fingerprint, or
reflection. So, it is basically like getting a new guitar for all
intents and purposes.

The pickups are dual coils, but IMO
have a sort of Gretch Filtertron feel when clean, and get beefier when overdriven. There is a single volume and tone control for
both pickups, and a standard 3-way selector switch. The tone knob
has a push-pull coil splitter to choose either single or double coil
sounds for both pickups. The neck has their “wide-fat” profile,
but it doesn't seem all that wide or fat to me. Wider than a
Rickenbacker, but not as chunky as an SG – feels like a typical
size for an electric to me. The tuners are vintage style, but work
well. The fretwork is excellent as expected from PRS, and sets-up
very well. It plays like a dream, but being a vintage style guitar,
it doesn't seem to be meant to be setup with super low rubbery action
like a Les Paul, though. The scale length is 24.5”, slightly less
than a typical Gibson, so I had it setup for 11 gauge strings, which
makes it play like 10s on my other guitars. The finish is
impeccable, like all PRS guitars. The case is heavy and substantial,
and is in prefect condition as well – it even still has a factory
barcode sticker on it.

The guitar will be DOUBLE BOXED for
shipping via FedEx Ground. The case will be put in the factory box,
and then this put into a larger box surrounded by foam. This is the
same packaging as I received it in from the retailer. I have set a
flat shipping rate that will cover shipping and full insurance
coverage for a package of this size and weight. This rate is meant to
be enough cover shipping anywhere in the country that the buyer might
reside, however, if you are close enough to me geographically that
the actual shipping cost turns out to be more than $10 less than the
flat rate, I will (at my discretion) refund the difference back to
you, but only after you have left positive feedback for me and the
transaction is closed. Note also that for an insured value this
high, FedEx will require a direct signature for delivery.
